Description

Key Features

Engine & Drivetrain
Parallel-Twin Engine
The CRF100 Africa Twin’s 1,084 cc parallel-twin engine‘s piston stroke, large throttle bodies and cylinder head help deliver more power and torque that’s felt from 2,500 RPM all the way through to the redline.
270-degree Phased Crankshaft
A 270-degree phased crankshaft and uneven firing interval gives a distinctive sound and feel while helping to produce strong and linear power and instant response anywhere in the rev range.
Exhaust Control Valve
To better manage the uprated intake efficiency and higher output the exhaust end-can now features a variable Exhaust Control Valve (ECV) very similar to the unit fitted to the CBR1000RR. It enhances both engine performance and efficiency as it opens at higher rpm and gives a pleasing exhaust note ‘pulse’ at lower rpm.
Six-Speed Manual Transmission
The six-speed manual gearbox is both lightweight and robust – it uses the same shift-cam design as found on the CRF450R to ensure positive changes and uses shorter ratios. The gears themsevles have been re-shaped and constructed from stronger material.
Assist Slipper Clutch
The aluminum clutch centre and pressure plate use ‘assist’ cams to ease upshifts and ‘slipper’ cams for deceleration and downshifting; the clutch diameter is now smaller and features reduced spring tension for lighter lever feel.
Six-Speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT)
The Africa Twin is also available with an advanced, automatic shifting, six-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT). It features 4 automatic modes which adjust the shift patterns to match your riding style or the conditions, and a standard manual mode – allowing the rider to shift gears with triggers on the left handlebar. These triggers can also be used to override the automatic modes gear selection at anytime.
DCT - Cornering and Incline Detection
The six-axis IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) allows two features on the DCT models– cornering and incline detection. The IMU knows when the bike is cornering or on a steep incline and can adapt the gear shift pattern to give you better control and a more natural gear shift feel.
Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU)
At the very heart of the Africa Twin’s elevated on- and off-road performance is a Bosch MM7.10 six-axis IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) that measures 6-axis of data and sends that information to other critical systems like: HSTC, ABS and wheelie control… these systems then make adjustments in real-time to give you total control.
G (Gravel) Switch
The DCT is specially engineered to handle off-road adventures, thanks in part to the G switch accessed through the TFT touch screen display. Activating the G switch in any riding mode improves the feel for available traction and machine control by reducing the amount of clutch slip during gear changes
Riding Modes
The Africa Twin has four default riding modes: Tour, Urban, Gravel and the Off-Road mode as well as two customisable User modes to cover any riding conditions or situations. Each of these modes presets power delivery, engine braking, ABS settings and HSTC torque control.
Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC)
The Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) system comes with seven (7) levels of torque control, and an “off” setting. Thanks to the IMU which can determine when the rear-wheel starts to slip out and it will seamlessly modulate your torque control to keep you in that sweet spot during acceleration.
Wheelie Control
The wheelie control system takes cues from the IMU to know when and how fast the front wheel is lifting and reacts accordingly. There are three levels of wheelie control, plus the ability to turn it off.
Chassis / Suspension
Electrnonic Suspension
Electronic suspension is now standard in the form of, Showa Electronically Equipped Ride Adjustment (Showa EERA™). Showa EERA™ adjusts damping force relative to riding mode selected and aims to deliver high-quality suspension reaction in diverse and opposite conditions - riding comfort at slower speeds and stability at higher speeds.
Frame Design
The strength and rigidity balance of the steel semi-double cradle frame has been redesigned to boost off-road ability – at the same time reinforcing its all-round on-road manners. The Africa Twin is engineered to handle the most rugged off-road adventures, while also providing the comfort of a touring motorcycle and the everyday competence of a great all-rounder or day-to-day commuter.
Aluminum Subframe
The bolt-on aluminum subframe is slim at a width of 195 mm – crucial for easier ground reach.
Aluminum Swingarm
The light aluminum swingarm improves rigidity, rear wheel traction and rider feel.
Body
Aggressive and compact - two words that sum up the Africa Twin's lightweight rally-style body work.
Riding Position
While the Africa Twin maintains its two position seat (870 mm standard and 850 mm in the low position), the seat is now 20 mm thinner, giving it a more aggressive feel and making it easier to reach the ground. This along with the bars that are now mounted 22.5 mm higher, gives a more upright riding position and makes it more comfortable, whether you are standing or sitting.
Additional Features
ABS Brakes
This system works in conjunction with the IMU by taking in all the data from the bike on speed, deceleration and lean angle to prevent rear wheel lock up or rear wheel lift. This makes sure you can stop quickly and keep both wheels planted to the road. There are on and off-road settings and rear ABS can be turned off in certain settings.
Protection
Designed for the long-haul, the expanded front fairing offers plenty of wind and weather protection, multiplied by the 5-level height adjustable windscreen and heated grips.
LED Headlights and Cornering Lights
The dual LED headlights are set higher, deliver a penetrating beam and, for additional security, feature three-stage Cornering Lights that use speed and lean angle (controlled by the IMU) to automatically adjust the area illuminated when cornering.
Multi Information Display
The 6.5-inch TFT touch screen, Multi Information Display (MID), keeps the rider in control of all of the Africa Twin’s systems, including riding modes, suspension settings, HSTC, Wheelie Control and ABS settings. The touchscreen is easy to use even when wearing gloves.
Apple CarPlay® and Bluetooth audio
With the use of a Bluetooth headset, Apple CarPlay® is now available. Music, phone calls and navi can now be accessed through the touchscreen display or via handlebar controls. The iPhone® itself plugs into a USB charging port on the right of the MID. Hands-free wireless Bluetooth connectivity is also an option for an iPhone® or Android device.
Indicators
The front and rear turn signlas are now self-cancelling; rather than using a simple timer, the system compares front and rear wheel speed difference and calculates when you've completed your turn or lane change.
Cruise Control
Cruise control is now a standard feature on the Africa Twin, making those long straights between trails all the more comfortable.

OUR COMPANY’S HISTORY

It all started in a small farmhouse in the tiny village of Zbaraz, located 17 miles northwest of Arborg, MB. This was where Mike Shachtay Sr. began the legacy of Shachtay Sales & Service. Mike Sr. left the family farm to travel to Guelph, SK to get factory training to become a Smith-Roles farmer agent. Upon his return as a Smith-Roles dealer, he began selling welders and air compressors to the neighbours and local farmers. As Mike Sr. began to sell more and more, his product offerings also grew. Today, after more than 52 years in business, Shachtay Sales & Service moved its headquarters to Arborg. It is now a second-generation, 100% family-owned business. Mike Sr. passed away in 1983. To honour his memory and to fulfil the family’s commitment to the farming community, Rita and Mike Shachtay Jr. continue to operate our company. From a small business, our company is now a major player in the agriculture, lawn and garden, and recreational markets. We provide services not only to the Interlake and surrounding areas but also to our customers located as far as Europe and Central America.
